A range of pure chemical salts
 |
Description
In 1994 Hans-Wermer Balling in Germany developed an
affordable alternative to the use of commercial liquid
additives, calcium CO2 reactors and calcium hydroxide
(kalkwasser). Originally it was designed to supplement calcium and carbonates
only, but was subsequently extended to
cover a reef aquarium's magnesium requirements as well.
Balling's method requires hobbyists to produce their own home-made liquid
supplements for calcium, carbonate and magnesium.
These are then dosed into their aquarium daily in
quantities that match the rate at which these three elements are
being consumed by the corals and other livestock, so keeping
levels stable.
TheReef®
supply the following pure chemicals salts for use with this
method:
• Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3)
•
Calcium
Chloride dihydrate (CaCl2.2H2O)
• Magnesium Chloride hexahydrate (MgCl2.6H2O)
• Magnesium Sulphate heptahydrate
(MgSO4.7H2O)
